Tangó Projekt

Tangó Projekt was an outdoor community and arts initiative in the 8th district of Budapest, Hungary, started around autumn 2022 by art historian Kata Oltai, focusing on local micro-events, public screenings, and urban heritage. 

The book is a documentation of the short life of Tangó Projekt, presenting its exhibitions, local history weekends, community events, and other activities. It combines photography by contemporary artists with archive images, historical documents, and old news segments, bringing different times and perspectives together.

The book is also an amalgamation of the district itself: fragmented, colourful, contradictory, and constantly changing. The visual language is inspired by the colours, textures, voices, and different identities that coexist within the neighbourhood.
