An interactive installation that monitors the viewer’s heart rate while presenting them with a sequence of real-time news headlines.
As the viewer encounters the headlines, their pulse influences a series of abstract forms displayed on screen: the higher the heart rate, the greater the intensity of the visual distortion. At the end of the interaction, a thermoprinter produces a physical image generated from the viewer’s biometric response, incorporating the final headline they encountered. The print serves as a tangible souvenir of the experience.
The inspiration behind this installation stemmed from the anxiety I felt when the conflict between Ukraine and Russia began, and I noticed an unsettling mixing of serious news with more trivial stories. This blending to me was detracting from the gravity of significant news, almost ridiculing the entire news landscape.
The project aims to reflect the chaotic and sometimes contradictory nature of news reporting, highlighting the need for a more balanced and thoughtful way of sharing information.
